Digitale Lifter.
De Digitale Lifter is ontworpen voor de rotonde als 'zero friction zone'. Het roept vragen op over het ‘weg-ontwerpen van spanning en kwetsbaarheid’ in de publieke ruimte. De Digitale Lifter is een ontmoetings-beeld dat een sociale relatie oproept. Een beeld dat van de automobilist op de rotonde een naief vertrouwen vraagt in de ontmoeting met een vreemde.

In opdracht van de provincie Utrecht vroeg het Rotonde Lab het kunstenaars duo Karen Lancel en Hermen Maat om samen met bewoners rond de rotonde bij Maartensdijk, een beeld te ontwerpen voor op de rotonde. 
Samen met de jongeren in het tehuis voor uit huis geplaatste jongeren,
ontwierpen zij een serie beelden naar aanleiding van de vragen: 
‘Wat heb ik nodig om thuis te komen?' en 'Hoe kom ik thuis?'
Al deze beelden staan als animaties op: Naarthuis.nu.
De kunstenaars kozen een van de beelden uit om op de rotonde te plaatsen.
Bij aankomst op de rotonde ziet de automobilist een levensechte Lifter.
Deze Lifter lift naar een virtueel thuis.  
Op zijn liftbordje staat een webadres: Naarthuis.nu. Wie brengt De Lifter thuis?

De animaties zijn ontstaan in samenwerking met Sam Ardekani, de website

Digital Hitchhiker.
The Digital Hitchhiker is designed for a roundabout as a 'zero friction zone'. It questions the way we focus in public space design on 'eliminating violence'. The Digital Hitchhiker is a meeting-sculpture proposing a social relation. It is an image asking from the driver on the roundabout a naive trust in meeting a stranger.

The province of Utrecht / Rotonde Lab asked artists duo Karen Lancel and Hermen Maat to collaborate with people living around the roundabout near Maartensdijk,
to create a sculpture for the roundabout.
In collaboration with young people living in the adolescents home near the roundabout, they designed a series of images for the question:
'What do I need to get home?'.
All these images are as animations visible on: Naarthuis.nu.
The artists choose one of the images to design a sculpture on the roundabout. When approaching the roundabout the car-driver sees a true to life designed Hitchhiker. This Hitchhiker is hitchhiking to a virtual home.
The sign shows a web adress: Naarthuis.nu. Who brings the Hitchhiker home?
